The Sunday Union project is a favourite of ours, that was started with the idea of making a short about a team of rugby players making their way through a super seven tournament. The idea is to have a bare bones team of seven, run by a less than legitimate manager.
This project is a favourite and we hope to convert this to blender in the near future. It was originally made entirely in Lightwave, originally as an excerise in character modelling, this project has grown and grown. The four characters that have been built so far, are all based on the same basic mesh, just deforming, scaling and changing texture maps. The bonus side to work on one mesh was that all the facial morphs and boneweighting just needed a small amount of tweaks and you then get yourself an new character.
This is important in this project, as there will be a large number of characters to fill the story. Luckily the key scenes are all on the pitch, or in the dressing room, which means the number of different sets is quite small. That is not to say that they are not detailed! The lighting rig on the building model was set to be quite gloomy and dull to try and get across the grotty conditions. A few more hours with dust particles and some grimy texture maps and I think it should do just the trick.
The pitch itself is ready, with the surronding hill side modelled and in place, this set just needs the rest of the factory, trees, foliage, vehicles and a car park to go and our characters story will be ready!
